Travelling to Jamaica

 

If you feel like escaping the buzz and the busy city life, Jamaica is the perfect place for it. The Caribbean island nation is a wonderful place where nature gathers and speaks to the heart and soul with vibes of freedom, peace and love. The place where mountains meet rainforests and reef-lined beaches.

The Nine Mile village is one of the top tourist attractions of Jamaica. Located in the mountains of St. Ann Parish, it is destined for any Bob Marley or reggae culture fans. Airports

Jamaica has three international airports you can fly into, to visit the Nine Mile village. You can either fly to Kingston, Montego Bay or Ocho Rios/Boscobel

Norman Manley International Airport – located in Kingston. It has car rental, taxis and tour operators available to help visitors get to their destination.

Sangster International Airport – located in Montego, the most common airport used by tourists. Taxis, hotels and car rental are also available here.  This airport is also designed for private jets.

Ian Fleming International Airport – located in the Ocho Rios resort area. This is a new airport for small aircrafts, great accessibility for those north coast of Jamaica for small aircrafts.

In order to reach the final destination, tourists can opt for a local domestic flight, which will be less time consuming. However, we recommend using ground transportation such as busses or cars in order to enjoy the beautiful views of Jamaica.

Flights to Jamaica

Virgin Atlantic is a great way to get to Jamaica. Flying directly to the Caribbean land, you can fly from London Heathrow airport to Montego Bay International Airport. Delta, KLM, Sun Country Airlines, British Airways, Cayman Airways, Caribbean Airlines, Virgin Atlantic, Spirit Airlines and TUI all fly direct to Jamaica.

Travel Time

Straight-away flights to Jamaica depends on what location you fly from. If you however, fly from London the flight takes around 9 hours and 45 minutes. If you do opt for a flight with a stop it can take up to 12 hours and 45 minutes. Don’t forget to double check your booking, some flights with two stops from the US are faster to Jamaica than flights with just one stop in other countries.

Travel Requirements

Make sure to check if you need a visa to visit Jamaica. For example, US and UK citizens do not need a visa for tourist travelling. They are granted to about a maximum of 90 days of entry to the country.

How to travel from airports to Nine Mile

When travelling to Nine Mile from the Sangster Airport the options available for tourists are pretty much the same. You can take a bus from Montego Bay to Ocho Rios (1 hour and 30 minutes) and then a taxi to Nine Mile (43 minutes). Another option includes taking the bus only (2 hours and 33 minutes journey) or you can drive if you decide to rent a car. The drive will take you about 1 hour and 30 minutes. If travelling from Kingston, travel time could take up to 2 hours and half.
